Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to check out some more about me. Let me tell you a bit about myself to help you decide if I might be the right counsellor for you.
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling from York St John University and an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Sheffield. I have been working with clients for over five years and help a wide range of people, both adults and young people age 15 upwards, including many who have Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD. Currently, I work in private practice, and as a counsellor and mentor for Open Minds Counselling in Doncaster. I am also a trustee with 121 Counselling in York.

I came into counselling through a positive personal experience of therapy during a difficult period of my life. Prior to this, I was a classroom teacher, specialising in working with children with special educational needs, moving into training school staff in working with children experiencing difficulties in learning. I understand the importance of starting your journey from where you are right now, building on your strengths as well as exploring what is troubling you.

My clients come to counselling with a wide range of difficulties, including depression and anxiety, relationship difficulties, loss and bereavement and feelings of low self worth and low self confidence. I work with my clients in whatever ways are most appropriate for them, drawing on a wide range of counselling theories, to help them make sense of what is going on for them, find their own way forwards and make whatever changes they feel they need. I believe every person is unique, both within themselves and in their personal experiences and therefore my counselling sessions are also tailored uniquely to you.

I regularly undertake professional development to ensure I am keeping up to date with the best ways I can help my clients. Find out more about counselling here.
